FAQ
How long is Speaking?
Speaking is 20 minutes.
What are the tasks in Speaking?
1. presentation; 2. discussion
What score do you need to pass?
Each module is marked out of 100 and passes at 60. In this app you are marked ready when every module is at least 70.
How to prepare
The presentation should survive two questions you did not plant. That means you understand your own example well enough to change it. The discussion should weigh the partner’s view, not wait for your turn to deliver a second talk.
Pronunciation is scored across the speaking module. Clear stress on the content words matters more than a perfect vowel on every function word.
A worked example
Wenn ich Ihr Argument ernst nehme, folgt daraus, dass die Regel nur für Betriebe ab fünfzig Leuten gelten sollte. Sehe ich das richtig?
You restate the consequence and check it. That is a discussion turn.
A restatement the partner can correct shows you were listening. A new topic shows you were not.
What usually drops the point
- Answering “keine Ahnung” and stopping. A partial answer plus a limit still scores.
- Filling silence with und and dann until the time ends.
- Correcting your grammar so often that the point disappears.
How to use the mock
Prepare the talk as spoken notes: four verbs, one example, one limit. Practise questions by having someone ask “why not the opposite?”. Record it.
- Speak for five minutes on a course prompt with one figure you can explain.
- Take a partner’s sentence and draw a consequence, as in the example.
- Listen to your recording once for stress and once for unfinished verbs.
