What score do you need to pass?
Each module is marked out of 100 and passes at 60. In this app you are marked ready when every module is at least 70.
How to prepare
Three texts, one hour: a personal email of about eighty words, a forum opinion of about eighty, and a short formal message of about forty. The rubric cares that each text does its job. A formal message written as a chat fails even if the German is correct.
Say the purpose in the first line. Cover every bullet in the task. Close in the same register you opened.
A worked example
Sehr geehrte Frau Lehmann, ich möchte den Termin am 3. Mai auf den 10. Mai verschieben. Ich bin an dem Tag in Hamburg. Mit freundlichen Grüßen, Yusuf Demir.
Purpose, old date, new date, reason, formal close. That is the short message.
The formal part is shorter, so candidates leave it unfinished. It still has its own points.
What usually drops the point
- Starting the forum post with “Hallo” and never stating an opinion.
- Using weil with verb-second, or dass with verb-second, under time pressure.
- Writing 150 words on the email to a friend and eight words on the formal message.
How to use the mock
Draft in bullets for two minutes per text, then write. Keep weil and dass for one sentence each so you can check the verb. The sentence builder is the drill; the mock is the timer.
- Write the reschedule message above in your own facts.
- Write eighty words: you are for or against a car-free Sunday, with one reason and one limit.
- Score one text with the B1 rubric in the app: task, language, and whether every point is there.
