FAQ

How long is Listening?

Listening is 40 minutes.

What are the tasks in Listening?

1. short announcements and messages; 2. guided tour or talk; 3. everyday conversation; 4. radio discussion: who says what

What score do you need to pass?

Each module is marked out of 100 and passes at 60. In this app you are marked ready when every module is at least 70.

How to prepare

B1 listening starts with short announcements, then a talk you hear once, a conversation, and a discussion where you say who holds which view. Some tasks give you a minute to read the questions first. Use it.

On “who says what”, write the speaker’s initial next to the opinion while you listen. Do not wait for the end. People change their mind; the item usually asks for the final position or for a specific remark.

A worked example

Anja: „Ich würde das Angebot annehmen.“ Bernd: „Nur wenn die Miete gleich bleibt.“

Anja agrees. Bernd agrees only with a condition. A statement “both refuse” is false.

The trap is a shared topic. The score depends on the condition, not on the word Miete.

How to use the mock

During the lead time, underline the question word and the two options that differ. After the audio, transfer answers only if this task includes a transfer. Do not “improve” an answer you heard clearly.

  1. Listen to a two-minute course talk and write five facts, then check the transcript.
  2. Mark who said it for a short dialogue with two speakers.
  3. Do the B1 listening mock and list the tasks that played once.
