1. forum post; 2. formal message
What score do you need to pass?
Each module is marked out of 100 and passes at 60. In this app you are marked ready when every module is at least 70.
How to prepare
Two texts under one timer: a forum post around 150 words and a message around 100. The forum post needs a position, reasons, and a link between them. The message needs the right register and a clear request.
Do not spend fifty minutes polishing the forum opening. The rubric spreads points across task, coherence, vocabulary and structures. An unfinished second text loses a block of those points.
A worked example
Ich halte ein Tempolimit in der Innenstadt für sinnvoll, weil der Lärm nachts messbar sinkt. Offen bleibt, wie Lieferverkehr ausgenommen wird.
Position, reason with weil and verb-final, then an open question. That is a paragraph, not the whole post.
B2 rewards a thread. Three reasons in three unconnected sentences score less than two reasons that refer to each other.
What usually drops the point
- Announcing “In diesem Text möchte ich …” and using forty words before the opinion.
- Translating an English essay structure with semicolons and a thesis you cannot support in German.
- Writing the formal message in the forum tone, or the reverse.
How to use the mock
Paragraph 1: position. Paragraph 2: one example. Paragraph 3: a limit or a concession. Then the message: purpose, facts, request, close. Check verb position only on weil, dass, obwohl.
- Write the speed-limit paragraph with your own city.
- Write 100 words to a landlord asking for a repair, with Sie.
- Score both with the B2 criteria in the mock: task, coherence, vocabulary, structures.
