FAQ

How long is Listening?

Listening is 40 minutes.

What are the tasks in Listening?

1. short everyday texts; 2. interview; 3. discussion: who says what; 4. lecture

What score do you need to pass?

Each module is marked out of 100 and passes at 60. In this app you are marked ready when every module is at least 70.

How to prepare

You hear everyday clips, an interview, a discussion, and a lecture. Several texts play only once. The lecture is where notes fail if you try to write full sentences.

Note nouns and numbers, not grammar. After the audio, turn the notes into the answer the question asked. If the question says “warum”, a number alone is not an answer unless the options are reasons.

A worked example

Der Referent nennt zwei Gründe: Lärm und fehlende Fahrradständer.

A note “Lärm / Räder” is enough to pick the option that mentions noise and parking, and to reject the option that mentions ticket prices.

You will not remember the adjective. You will remember the two nouns if you wrote them.

How to use the mock

During lead time, predict the kind of answer: a reason, a number, a person. In the discussion, track two speakers with two columns. Do not add a third column unless a third voice actually argues.

  1. Listen to a course lecture clip and write five nouns. Then answer one why-question from memory.
  2. Shadow one interview answer, then summarise it in one German sentence.
  3. Run the B2 listening mock and mark every once-only task before you start.
