Recognition is not the language exam
People often ask for “the German exam for Anerkennung” as if it were one paper. It is not. Recognition asks whether your qualification matches the German job. A language exam asks whether your German matches the level that route requires. You may need both, one of them, or a different exam from Goethe, telc or ÖSD. The rule depends on the profession and the office.
This site does not invent a single required level. The visa pages state only rules we have checked, with the date of that check:
The pathway calculator uses those same rules. If your job is not in the list, the honest next step is the official office for that profession, not a guess from a nearby page.
Language practice for the workplace itself, shift handovers and interviews, is separate from the recognition file. That page is German at work.

Questions
Does a Goethe certificate replace Anerkennung?
No. Recognition checks the qualification. A language exam checks German. Some jobs ask for both, and the level is not the same for every profession or every state.
Which level should I open?
Use the visa page for the route you are actually on. Nursing, doctors and skilled work are separate pages because the verified rules differ.
